Colby sat in his dingy cell, contemplating his current state of affairs, such as they were. Even the visit from Jack had not proved to bring forth any answers, only rum.

He took a sip from the plastic bottle; he'd not been allowed to keep it in the bottle Jack had given it to him in - you never knew if he might suddenly decide enough was enough. Or at least that was the excuse he'd been given.

"Yo, ho, haul together,
hoist the Colors high.
Heave ho,
thieves and beggars,
never shall we die.

"Are you sure you want to be singing that, young Turner?" came a voice from the shadows. Colby jumped and then glared as he realised his visitor,

"A few years too early, aren't you, Jack?"

Megan watched with the others, from behind the one-way glass in the wall of the cell, as Sparrow avoided the question,

"How about: The daye is gone, and yet I sawe no sonn: And nowe I live, and now my life is donn. A tad more fitting, don't you think?" he said as he waved his arms wide and then rested his chin on fingertips.

Even Megan was surprised at this odd display and smiled softly at Charlie's,

"What? He's got an education."

She frowned as Jack turned from looking at Colby to face the glass that he shouldn't be able to hear through and answered,

"Three or four actually."

"How did he hear that?" Don asked, his voice rose, as it pretty much always was these days.

"I've given up on asking the why's and how's of Jack Sparrow," Charlie answered his brother, eyes firmly fixed on Colby.

"I thought you didn't like psychics."

"I never said he was a psychic, he-"

"Guys! We're here for Colby not another reply of the Don and Charlie argument," David butted in.

"Three or four actually." Jack said as he turned to the darkened glass.

"I guess you're not my only visitor then, huh, Jack?" Colby asked as he let his eyes drift to the glass and back to Jack.

"You can't see them," Jack answered, his eyes sparkling, "they are not there."

Colby snorted,

"Yeah, right."

"Works for me," Jack furthered and then whispered, "and if they're not there I can say stuff they can't hear."

Colby rolled his eyes,

"Thanks, Jack. I really needed that."

"No problem," Jack said, taking a bow. He moved to the window and leant against it, arms flung upwards in a stretch, "now to get to business."

He tuck a box from his suit jacket pocket and opened it, peering inside, he looked up at Colby,

"Ah," he walked over and took the rum, taking a sip, "let's try that again."

This time he seemed to find whatever answer he was looking for from inside the box as he turned back to the window,

"Charles my good man, do step a bit further into the window, I can barely see you through the wall."

He looked down at the box and back to the window and then up at Colby,

"No, Jack."

"Ah, I thought not. I have proved my point to your Captain. We need your charge to get you out of this."

Charlie lowered himself into the nearest empty chair of the war room and watched as his brother paced, waiting for Jack to return. At Jack's entrance he swung around and immediately began asking questions,

"What the hell was that about, Sparrow? You didn't prove anything! And his charge?"

"Ah," Jack turned a disappointed face on Charlie, "you didn't say anything, young Eppes?" He shook his head, "no matter. We shall persevere."

Taking a perch on the nearest table Jack continued,

"I proved, with the use of a very top secret device, that you do indeed need your young brother to free the decidedly not guilty Turner."

"D-" Don started.

"Ah!" Jack held up a hand, the other cradling the small box to his chest, "Top Secret. Means you can't have it. It's mine."

"Well," Jack said, looking confused, "who else did you think was the young Eppes' handler? Surely not myself? No, far too maths like for my tastes," he turned to Charlie, "not that there's anything wrong with that, I'm sure it works well for you, just not my thing."

Charlie hunched in his chair, waiting for Don's explosion,

"Colby was your NSA handler? Colby!"

"Is, Don."

"Yes, Don."

"You never said-, is?"

"NSA, Don. I couldn't tell and you weren't allowed to-, ask. And yes, is. I've had nothing to tell me otherwise."

"Even though your handler is currently languishing in federal prison?"

"Wouldn’t be the first time."

"I said-"

"Ah!" Jack said from his position by the projector, "I think I've figured out how this works," he pressed a button and the machine came to life, "yes, now Charlie, come and do your magic."

"Math, Jack. Not magic."

"You say math, I say magic," Jack countered.

purple sparkly plot bunnies of doom can be fun tho!! ;)

But yes! Excellent as always! Can't wait to see how Charlie gets Colby outta this one. :D I love your modern Captain Jack Sparrow. He's certainly has a lot of time on his hands, so I can see him getting a bit of an education if anything to confuse people more. ;)

Also, "Wouldn’t be the first time.", I wonder what did happen the first time. lol

One more thing, I was re-reading the other two fics of this series, re-going over stuff from The Janus List and realized, Chinese Agent! Duh!! How much do we wanna bet that the Chinese have a long memory from when 'Elizabeth Swan-Turner' was a pirate captain/pirate king and there shall be anarchy in the future. 'Cause if anything Colby has inhereited that position, long line of pirates, plus any historian that comes across that tid-bit of info, kidnaps said Colby to find treasure, history bits, etc, whole 'nother kettle of herring to open up there. :D

purple sparkly plot bunnies of doom can be fun tho!! - oh, I suppose so... ;)

Thank you. I'm glad I did your prompt justice. :D

I can see him getting a bit of an education if anything to confuse people more - why else would he do it? ;) It's something that gives him a one up on someone else. Especially in the world today when just his background won't get him the jobs he needs anymore.

I wonder what did happen the first time. - that would be telling!

The Chinese are known for having long memories...

Inheriting the position of Pirate King? hmmm... it's something I could play with, isn't it?

*grins* us historians, we can be wicked ;) (I love your icon, by the way).
Jun. 10th, 2007 05:01 pm (UTC)
Captain Jack Sparrow is anything and everything when it comes to getting one up on people. He likes to be unpredictable. :D

Aw, but tell anyways! ;)

You know, with the Chinese, inheriting the Pirate King position, Colby being a descendent of a Turner, you have to wonder who else is floating around that maybe have a long life like Jack's or who else fathered some kids.

Thanks! I can't remember who I got the icon from tho. But I thought it summed up the fic quite nicely. ;)
Jun. 10th, 2007 05:07 pm (UTC)
And every so often he's predictable... just because no one is expecting it!

*sigh* now, you're doing it again! Putting more ideas in my head... hmmm.... goes off to think on it...
Jun. 10th, 2007 05:10 pm (UTC)
Everyone wants their own Captain Jack Sparrow. *tosses one at emony*

*snickers* my purple sparkly plot bunnies of doom always give me tons of ideas; it's always fun to share the wealth. :D
Jun. 10th, 2007 05:15 pm (UTC)
Yay! My very own Jack! *evilnaughtygrin*

it's always fun to share the wealth - it is, this is probably karma for all the times I've done it myself!

Jun. 10th, 2007 05:19 pm (UTC)
lol, I have a whole notebook filled with plot ideas fleshed out, only some of them have been started. I curse the day my muse bought the purple sparkly plot bunnies of doom home with it.

Also, on a side note, I friended ya. :)
Jun. 10th, 2007 05:26 pm (UTC)
It used to be that most of my ideas could be kept inside me head. These days half of my fic folders have a .txt file for notes. I did not expect to have to create one for the CTG series... seriously. Although now I'm kind of glad I did...

Have reciprocated in kind... ;)

And once again, lovely icon.
Jun. 10th, 2007 05:45 pm (UTC)
*grins* Yeah, I have a file folder like that, except it's for Naruto anime fic. lol

*headdesk* And my prompt for Team Roadhouse is kicking my butt. I have like one paragraph and there's more to be written, but it won't come out. I think my purple sparkly plot bunnies of doom have abandoned me for your PotC/Numb3rs fic. lol

And thank you! Yes, JDM is <3! :D
Jun. 10th, 2007 05:51 pm (UTC)
Ugh... my Roadhouse prompt was awful... I had all sorts of ideas when I picked it out and then I wrote it *shakes head* awful. What prompt did you pick out?

JDM rules.
Jun. 10th, 2007 06:17 pm (UTC)
I have Wesley/John - Rogue Demon Hunters: any. I have the idea, but nothing really plotted out, and I'm going with season 5 post-Fred Wesley, so he's slightly insane and all angsty and angry at the world. And I know he died, but he's a good resource, I figured the PTB weren't quite done with him. :D
Jun. 10th, 2007 06:25 pm (UTC)
Wesley/John - RDH sounds interesting. can't wait to see what you've come up with ;)

My philosophy is that once the PTB have you within their clutches they're never done with you - kinda like Wolfram & Hart.
Jun. 10th, 2007 06:34 pm (UTC)
Well, the plot has started to flow a bit here. :D Gotten a few words out.

Yeah, the PTB is bit in the mob mentality.

*snickers* Spice Girls - Too Much just came on my winamp and I am now thinking porny thoughts with my prompt. lol
Jun. 10th, 2007 06:46 pm (UTC)
Yay on the plot flowage front! :)

Well, I know I wouldn't say no to the porn for that prompt ;)
Jun. 10th, 2007 06:56 pm (UTC)
I don't know why, but talking at someone or talking to someone usually helps the plot flow. So this has been tremendous help. :)

As for only porn fic I've written so far. Should satisfy the porn craving for the moment. ;)
Jun. 10th, 2007 07:00 pm (UTC)
I don't know why, but talking at someone or talking to someone usually helps the plot flow. - that makes sense, it sometimes works for me too.

*grins* goes off to read... I'd point you in the direction of the stuff I've written but it was all ER...
Jun. 10th, 2007 07:04 pm (UTC)
Hee! Yeah, not much into ER, I'm more into MASH and Grey's Anatomy for doctor shows to watch.

The whole talking thing, my friend does it all the time when she's plotting out her Final Fantasy story, but she keeps changing it all the time too, 'cause of all the talking. I think she's gone through at least 6 re-writes. And the thing is, all the previous incarnations are really good. But not good enough for her apparently. lol
Jun. 10th, 2007 07:08 pm (UTC)
I often think I don't watch that many medical shows... then I add them up. ER, Grey's, House, MASH. Ok, so it's not as bad as my cop/csi addiction but still...

Jun. 10th, 2007 07:12 pm (UTC)
My friend turned me on CSI, I blame her fully. She takes great delight in the blame and then taunts me with her CSI DVD's. lol
Jun. 10th, 2007 07:17 pm (UTC)
lol. Yeah, fandom has no blame in my CSI addiction. That one's all down to my housemate and her DVDs... not that she had anything to me now watching NY and sometimes Miami...
Jun. 10th, 2007 07:21 pm (UTC)
lol, i think I can guess yer fav character from the icon there. Greg is my favourite. My Greggo! ;) As for CSI: NY, my friend can't watch Gary Sinse anymore in it, 'cause I made her watch Forrest Gump and she laughs at GS everytime he's on now. I miss Speed in Miami tho. Although I can watch him in Empire Records over and over and over again. :D
Jun. 10th, 2007 07:26 pm (UTC)
Yeah, but Greg is a close second. I love Flack and Danny on NY. I miss Speed totally - and I hear ya on the Empire Records front... the same housemate and I both went out and bought copies of the DVD after we borrowed from an american friend of ours ;)

Jun. 10th, 2007 07:32 pm (UTC)
You know if you wanna chat more, I am on AIM right now, under Sparrow015. We keep talking like this on LJ, then the comments are gonna spill right off the screen. lol
Jun. 10th, 2007 07:35 pm (UTC)
lol... I would but I only have MSN...
Jun. 10th, 2007 07:38 pm (UTC)
Oh I have MSN as well! I just happned to be on AIM instead. :D But yes, MSN is up and running now.
Jun. 10th, 2007 07:56 pm (UTC)
Even the visit from Jack had not proved to bring forth any answers, only rum.

You had me here, typical Jack, everything can be solved with rum.

Singing, rum and maths= ...oh the possibilities, and you have a character that can do each and now there are threesomes in my head that probably break the laws of time and space.
Jun. 10th, 2007 08:33 pm (UTC)
You had me here, typical Jack, everything can be solved with rum. - that's the way things work in his world.

and now there are threesomes in my head that probably break the laws of time and space - *grins* at least I got 'em in your head :) My only thought is if I got it in Don's head, (some of the things I had Jack and Charlie say had to have got cogs turning for him)... and just what he thinks his little brother has been up to with those two...
Jun. 11th, 2007 08:45 am (UTC)
and just what he thinks his little brother has been up to with those two... Oh talk about bad influences, poor Don wouldn't break to eat or sleep. Lol, exposure to pirates, good thing? bad thing?
Jun. 11th, 2007 03:43 pm (UTC)
I'm sure that in Don's head exposure to pirates, those two in particular, is not a good thing. To me... it's a good thing ;)and very pretty to look at...

Jun. 20th, 2007 05:30 pm (UTC)

it's made of perfect.

Jun. 20th, 2007 05:45 pm (UTC)
*grins* It just had to be done ;)
